Transition Planning for Adulthood – Weekend Blitz
Join us for this weekend blitz, designed to help you assist your youth who lives with disability in transitioning to a full adult life. Transitioning to adulthood is one of the most important life transitions we experience. Youth ages 14 – 25 require support in navigating this critical time of life.
Please note the workshop times:
6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 5th
9:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6th
There will be a 1/2 hr lunch break (lunch not included).
Registrants must be present for both dates and times.
Please visit the Gateway Association website for more information.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from Gateway Association?
There is free parking available at Gateway Association. The location is accessible by public transportation, but we encourage people to make arrangements for transportation for evening workshops.
What can I bring into the workshop?
Coffee, tea and water will be provided during the workshops. If you've missed dinner, please feel free to bring something to eat along with you. We won't even make you share with the class.
Is it ok if the name on my registration doesn't match the person who attends?
We encourage all guardians to attend our workshops. Guardians living in separate households are both strongly encouraged to attend the workshops, if possible. It doesn't have to be at the same workshop series. Alternating workshops is a possibility.
What if I have to miss one of the workshops?
The workshops are designed to be consecutive and some of the content of the next workshop may not make any sense. That being said, life happens and, if there is an issue, please chat with your facilitator and we'll see what we can do.
Can I get family support at the workshop?
We have amazing facilitators, but they are not family support specialists. If you have questions or concerns that are not covered in the workshop, you will be connected with one of our family support specialists. They are always here to help. Need a specialist now? Call 780.454.0701 and ask to speak to someone in family support.
