Time's Up! Harm Reduction Symposium
HARM REDUCTION SYMPOSIUM
CALL TO ACTION
Substance use morbidity and mortality is on the rise within Canada!
The opioid crisis continues to claim the lives of Canadians, shown by the approximate 4000 lives that were lost in 2017 due to opioid overdose.
Twelve new HIV cases were confirmed in New Brunswick in 2017, 22% directly attributed to injection drug use. In addition, Southern New Brunswick holds 485 identified active hepatitis C cases and of those living with hepatitis C 93.7% were related to high risk drug use.
It is time to enforce community capacity building to address these complex issues. The Harm Reduction Symposium Committee will provide innovative approaches and sustainability to improve access to care for vulnerable populations.
The 3rd annual Harm Reduction Symposium will bring together many stakeholders to raise awareness, educate, and enhance harm reduction collaboration.
