Join Centre Stage Theatre School at one or more of our summer camp programs, running weekly from July 8 -August 16

It’s a great way to make new friends, learn new skills, develop your creativity and have fun acting, singing, and dancing as well as creating and performing in a production.
Grouped according to age, students will explore stage movement, characterization, improvisation, vocal work, theatre dance, theatre games, singing, storytelling, warm-up and cool-down activities, as well as the creation of props, scenery, and costumes.

At the end of each week, everyone will perform in a show for parents and friends, in the Centre Stage Studio Theatre.

Camps run weekly from July 8 – August 16 at 3505 Mainway, Burlington.

The Program

The program focuses on developing strong acting skills while emphasizing self-confidence, expression, creativity, concentration, self-esteem, individual style, and public speaking and group cooperation skills, all in an atmosphere of fun and excitement.

The environment is welcoming, rewarding, challenging, and supportive. We have built variety into the program, so that campers remain involved and everyone has an opportunity to participate fully.  Students have the opportunity to meet new friends, learn new skills, and have FUN.

The program grew out of our many years of experience as arts educators and camp leaders and our strong belief in the value of education in and through theatre and music theatre. Our goals are to nurture each student’s imagination, develop theatre skills, boost self-esteem and enable students to perform in a safe and supportive environment.  Based on our philosophy that theatre skills mirror life skills, our programs develop theatre skills that will be valuable in academic, social and personal contexts.

Studies have shown that the benefits of drama education include an increase in:

  • Self confidence
  • Presentation and speaking skills
  • Imagination
  • Empathy
  • Concentration and focus
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Memory
  • Physical fitness
  • Sense of commitment
  • Self-discipline
  • Social awareness
  • Capacities for cooperation and collaboration
  • Communication skills
  • Literacy
  • Aesthetic appreciation
