Slow Flow is a gentle yin flow that grounds, stretches and relaxes your physical body as well as balances your emotional, mental and energetic bodies according to the specific needs of the month. The class starts with slow movement to warm the body and moves into deep stretches that include restorative postures as well as yin postures.
The focus of the Fall season will be letting go, to make way for the crisp clarity and stillness of the colder months. We'll move inward to take stock, harvest what is needed and let go of the excess generated over the summer months. Through the yin postures, Traditional Chinese Medicine will be incorporated into each month's sequence to balance the major organs of the season, the lungs and large intestine and the element of the season, metal. The metal element is believed to reflect our core issues and the most refined part of ourselves. Meditations during class will bring you into the part of yourself that is ready to "get back to business", to re-evaluate and strategize what to let go of and what to focus on moving forward into this new season.
Classes will run every Thursday from September - December, 8:30-9:30pm at Solwood Studio, a cozy character studio in the heart of downtown with oversized windows, hardwood floors and a great sound system. Come 10 minutes early to class, enter on Broad street and head up the stairs to the room on the far right. Cubbies, bathrooms (including a shower) and tea will be available. Please bring your own mats, I'll have a few available if you forget.
