MEET YOUR MATCH
In late December, a swabbing event hosted by Canadian Blood Services (CBS) at Café 22 was held to help find a bone marrow transplant match for Theresa Cianflone. She is a part of the SJR community and has always played a positive role. We, a group of SJR students, reached out and wanted to provide support for not only her, but also for the hundreds of other Canadians currently going through similar situations. We felt we should take responsibility to do our part to help, which led to the organization of the MEET YOUR MATCH Basketball Tournament. Our goal through this tournament is to spread awareness and find potential donors for those in need. As a part of the tournament, potential donors from the ages seventeen to thirty-five have the opportunity to swab and register with CBS. We encourage any participants who fall within this age range to swab, and if they happen to match, that they pursue the donation process. The swabbing stations will most likely be set up throughout the tournament for those that are interested.
