Cancer Thriver & Caregiver Workshop: A Nurturing Experience
UPDATE: MARCH 14, 2020 - THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO THE CURRENT COVID-19 PANDEMIC
We will seek new workshop opportunities in the coming months. Regards, Jill Haverstock
By the end of this workshop you’ll feel deeply supported having learned how to meal plan with more ease, shared the difficulties and mini-triumphs that we all face as cancer thrivers and caregivers amongst the cancer experience so that you have a renewed sense of self-confidence to once again journey forward into the challenges we all share as we support our spouses, partners, parents, best friends, siblings and neighbours on their important path.
A special note to Caregiver's: as a caregiver to a loved one with cancer, you’ve been thrust into a busy world of unending appointments, food planning and prep, driving, note taking, organizing, cleaning and more.
You strive all day to be the strength for your loved one.
There is very little time for your emotional well-being and physical health, to care for yourself on a deeper level. You often feel as though you are living day to day.
I’d love for you to join me for this empowering workshop. Come as you are and join us for soulful conversation and purposeful connection with individuals who are experiencing similar realities.
During our time together I will be showing you what to cook, buy, prepare for both yourself and your loved one as you both move through the cancer experience.
You need easy-to-prepare anti-cancer foods that won’t have you in the kitchen all day, that provide nutrients but still have nutrients and give a sense of comfort.
You’ll receive my best recipes and workbook to make this happen. Our focus will be on anti-inflammatory foods, some low carb, both vegetarian and omnivore and a discussion on how to include more plant based foods that are known to help prevent recurrence.
Enjoy a buffet-style lunch that will also include gluten-free, dairy-free and vegetarian options. That’s right, someone else is doing the cooking!
We will also have a special guest join us for a portion of our workshop, Dr Rob Rutledge, Radiation Oncologist at the Nova Scotia Cancer Centre and Chair / CEO of HealingandCancer.org. He will lead us in a discussion on how we can emotionally support and empower ourselves and our loved ones during this time.
A portion of the workshop proceeds will be offered to the Healing and Cancer Foundation. Their mandate is to empower people affected by cancer with a practical and integrated healing approach which combines the best care from the medical system with scientific and wisdom-based healing techniques.
Reach out to Jill at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions and to know that this workshop is meant for you.
Parking is free at the Chocolate Lake Hotel.
