Introduction to Crochet
Square Lemon is running an Introduction to Crochet class on a regular basis
Over a cup or two of tea (or coffee), you will learn:
- Yarn types -
What type of yarn should I use?
What should I avoid until I am more experienced?
What information should I look for on yarn labels?
- Choosing the right hook -
What do the numbers mean?
Which ones do I need for this project?
- Getting Started:
The slip knot – your knotting friend and bosom companion
The cable stich – even tension is key!
Single crochet stitch – the most basic crochet stitch
- Working rows –
tackling that first, trickiest row,
how to finish/start flat rows (perfect for making square or rectangular project such as washcloths, dishcloths, potholders, etc.)
- Finishing your project –
a simple knot is all you need!
There will be needles, yarn, notions and patterns available for purchase at the class.
This Introduction to: will run regularly on various evenings to suit your timetable. Please indicate an evening that you would prefer.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Driving. 877 Boyd Avenue is easy to locate just off Carling near the 417. Square Lemon is actually on the Dobbie Street side of the building. There is free parking.
Public transportation. Bus routes 50 and 85 will bring you to a point where the walk is 5 minutes or less
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?
What can I bring into the event?
Please bring needles and yarn, and any notions or patterns you are interested in using.
