The incredible NEFE will kick things off at 9:00pm. You won't believe her stunning voice and refreshingly unique style. Make sure you're early enough to catch her set -- you'll be glad you did!
"Combined with the soulful power of Tracey Chapman, the uniqueness of Bruno Mars and a voice that can silence a room, NEFE is a burgeoning force within the Canadian musical landscape."
Born Sarah Jean Felker, NEFE is a singer/songwriter hailing from the small Southwestern Ontario city of Guelph. NEFE released her debut EP Mama (Universal Music) in 2018, produced by Taylor Kirk of Timber Timbre at Montreal's Hotel2Tango studios. She has performed notable festivals such as Canada's Walk of Fame, Toronto International Film Fest, Ottawa Pride, Field Trip Festival, Hillside Festival, and most recently supported the legendary Bruce Cockburn on his 2018 Bone on Bone tour across dates in Canada. //
Heartbeat is a big, bright & boisterous retro-inspired pop record, punctuated by a full horn section, and reminiscent of a time when music was sincere, bold and proud.
But Stacey's six-song release has a range of other vibes too, including old-school funk and soul. Theres the pleading ballad Make Your Move, the funky jazzy swirl Mercy, playful peppy piano pop of Follow Me Down, and darker monster Give Up The Ghost. The title-track, Heartbeat, Stacey says, epitomizes the whole process of making this record. It's just a joyful song about moving forward and looking ahead. It's essentially about finding love, about realizing you're on the verge of something good."
As a Toronto-based solo artist, Stacey has released 2 CDs independently which continue to receive airplay today. She plays live shows extensively throughout the year, both as a solo artist and with her dynamic 8-piece band, including a weekly residency at Toronto's premiere jazz club, the Reservoir Lounge.
