Grenfell English Programme presents: Talya Rubin
Talya Rubin is a poet, playwright and theatre creator/performer. Her first book of poetry, Leaving the Island, was published by Vehicule Press in April 2015. Her poetry has won the Bronwen Wallace Award for Emerging Writers. She was short-listed for the Winston Collins/Descant prize for Best Canadian poem in 2011 and was a finalist for the Montreal International Poetry Prize. In March 2015, she won the "Battle of the Bards" at Harbourfront, Toronto, a CBC Sponsored event at the International Festival of Authors.
Rubin holds an MFA in Creative Writing from UBC and lives between Montreal and Australia with her husband and son. She also makes interdisciplinary solo theatre and films with the company Too Close to the Sun.
