from Earl Johnson last night at The Loaded Dog in TO Jerry Doucette - Amazing night for CANADA ROCKS and myself. I have had the privilege of playing with several legendary Canadian performers in my time and tonight was like going full circle. When we went into "Mama Let Him Play" the entire crowd was singing the lyrics with Jerry and I was getting goose bumps. It was a true Canadiana moment to be proud of and even more so to be a part of. Proud to be from the Hammer and to have played with Richard Newell, Rita Chiarelli and now Jerry Doucette all fellow Hamiltonians. Big thanks to Jim Cornell, Phil Slaney and Rob Platsko for making tonight happen. Special Thanks to another Hamiltonian. Mom Joanne Csicsak, thanks for making me play the guitar in the first place. Tonite would not have happened without your love and support.

A little something more from guest Earl Johnson. Earl wrote: "Okay Just putting this out there - we work our "As..s" off to come up with the ultimate version of this song which I have been told "ROCKS LIKE F....N HELL. Rob Robbins on guitar and production and Nick as well on vocals gave this tune a new life as far as I'm concerned. Too much work was done on this song to settle for a few thousand views. This song is a time capsule of what bands went through 40 years ago and even more so now when it's harder than ever to break through. Share if you care.

More from Earl Johnson ! JERRY DOUCETTE - Mama Let Him Play - Playing 2 shows with Jerry when he returns in September. Friday the 23rd at the Loaded Dog in Toronto and Saturday the 24th at Bay City Music Hall in Hamilton. Jerry was an idol of mine when I was starting out on guitar and I used to watch him play all the local teen clubs in Hamilton and he was and still is an amazing player. DOUBLESHOT will be on the Hamilton show and CANADA ROCKS on the Toronto show. Jerry Doucette is a true Canadian Rock Legend with one of the best classic rock songs ever written in this country. Me and Jim Cornell have a ball everytime we play this song. Tickets are $10 for the Toronto show and they will go fast. Tickets are $15 for the Hamilton show available at Chedoke Flowers and Bay City Music Hall. Cash only please!

EMR #3 Doucette Back In The Hammer! A little something from Earl Johnson of Moxy. JERRY DOUCETTE - Rare Video with Bill Wade from MOXY on drums. This is after we recorded RIDIN HIGH. Bill had left MOXY due to artistic differences or maybe philisophical I can't recall, but I do remember seeing this video once back in the day. We actually ran into Bill when we played the Whiskey A Go Go in LA. Bill was hanging around with the bass player from ANGEL and rumour had it some guy named EDDIE. Have to drill down for more info on that one. Jerry was always stretching the boundaries back then on guitar and should be recognized as one of the best rock/blues guitarists this country ever produced.

A little something on Tim Gibbons, another guest that evening. It was in the hazy days of the late sixties that two young Blues music enthusiasts first met in front of the Sherwood Lanes pool hall in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. For guitarist 'TG' Gibbons and bassist 'Swampy Joe' Klienfiltr it was to be the auspicious start of a longtime musical collaboration. "I had started out playing drums at some local teen things and occasionally backing up strippers," says TG. "I guess I felt more drawn to the guitar for I sold my kit to a guy who worked at the local gas station, named Patch. This guy was so over the top he set the kit up right on the station lot. Whenever he could get a minute from pumping gas he would play a mean boogaloo on those drums. He was great and it wasn't long before me and Joe were playing the blues with Patch." 'SWAMP TOOTH COMB' is the new c.d. release for TG and the SWAMPBUSTERS, featuring an exciting You Tube video for the top track, 'BAYOU PREACHER'.

Here's a little something on Bill Dillon, one of the guests. A Barber Shop Podcast with Kevin Barber. The things that make the man are as big as they are small, for what makes the man is always a milieux of convergence in a much bigger plan. It's doubtful that there is anyone born in the dawn of the 50's who has experienced the tapestry of popular music in such a wonderful Forrest Gump kind of way as the unlikely savant of the guitar that is Bill Dillon. Lacking the bravado and cockiness associated with most guitar heroes, Dillon possesses the purest and most transparent of filters, gossamer nuances favoured by the likes of Ian Thomas, The Pretenders, Gordon Lightfoot, Dan Lanois, Ronnie Hawkins, Robbie Robertson, Paul Simon, Edie Brickell, Sarah McLachlan ....to name a few. Born on the mean streets with a fierce angel to guide and protect and an ever present demon to torment him, his childhood begged for the comfort and escape music offered that stilted child. Bestowed with a natural gift and a burning desire, a tenuous connection to Grimsby and Hamilton's position between there and Toronto meant Dillon was soon to discover the steeping brew and musical hotbed that the steel city has always been known so well to be. Relationships formed, friendships made and that symmetrical symbiotic serendipity began to swirl and take him away. Chateaus and villas, classic cars and jets to Monaco were not just a dream for this cat, it was his life. Who would have thought, after all of that, he would be so humble, so kind, so wise and so incredibly real? As a Beatles fan, the diddy that is When I'm 64 must have struck home for Bill this year, the days now glowing orange-red in the long shadows. This is 2 hours of pure Bill Dillon; a life in music and the music in life rolled out on the grass to lie on, on the most beautiful of summer nights. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raocHuEmlxk
