Paul Luchkow, baroque violin and Michael Jarvis, harpsichord are joined by internationally-acclaimed viola da gambist Sam Stadlen of Fretwork (London, UK) in a joyful programme exploring the beginnings of the Classical style. In late 18th-century England, the viola da gamba enjoyed a remarkable revival by members of the English aristocracy, resulting in new commissions by the leading fashionable composers of the time in a daring virtuosic style.
