POSTPONED - LIKE: Are you using your device or is it using you?
WHAT: Oak Bay High’s Connect to Care student group, in collaboration with Oak Bay’s and Monterey’s Parent Advisory Council, is hosting a screening of the compelling new documentary
WHO: This event is free and open to the public. A suggested donation of $2 at the door is appreciated to cover the cost of the screening license. More than 400 teens and tweens, parents, educators, and prominent community members are expected to attend. When social media users chase "likes" or seek followers, they lose sight of the fact that their devices are now using them. The goal of the screening is to raise awareness about the hidden costs of social media as well as start a conversation about how to ensure our own, and our children’s, healthy use of technology. A post-viewing panel discussion will include special guests:
Mia Golden – Child, Youth & Family Counsellor with MYST (Mobile Youth Services Team)
Jen Chambers– District Counsellor with the Greater Victoria School District
Shannon Husk – Clinical Counsellor with BC Responsible Gaming Program
PARKING? Parking can be found both in front of and behind Oak Bay High (off Cranmore St.) or behind Oak Bay Recreation Centre (at the end of Goldsmith St.).
