Charlie Parker: Celebrating 100 Years
Friday, April 3rd
Miles Davis said “You can sum up the history of jazz in four words: Louis Armstrong Charlie Parker.”
Come join Fox Big Band directed by Brandon Oberhamer as we celebrate the musical legacy of one of the greatest innovators in jazz. Hear a full concert of the genius of one of the inventors of bebop including songs like “Scrapple for the Apple”, “Ornithology”, “Now’s the Time”, “KC Blues” and more.
Learn about the incomparable life and extraordinary, trailblazing career of this jazz titan and influential composer in the year of the 100th anniversary of his birth. Parker, nicknamed “Bird” was a preeminent alto saxophonist who was one of the fathers of bebop and progenitors of modern jazz. We are thrilled to honor Bird’s legacy and music and its transformative musical impact.
