Diverse Careers in Education
40% of new teachers in Alberta leave the profession within five years. While this can be viewed as a teacher retention issue, it also means that there are a lot of educators using their skills in various types of jobs, sectors, and industries to make a difference in our community.
Join the UCalgary Education Alumni Network: Beyond the Classroom to hear from education alumni who have pursued careers outside of the school system in the public, private and non-profit sectors. This event will include a panel discussion, followed by Q&A and networking. Our panel includes:
Jeny Mathews-Thusoo, BEd' 96 - Program Lead for Resilient Calgary, The City of Calgary
Patti Morris, BEd '86 - Executive Director, Wellspring Calgary
Cam McNicol, BEd '85 - Co-Founder, Schoolsoft Technologies
Moderator: Alicia Adlington, MEd '13 - Distance Programs Coordinator, Werklund School of Education
