The Aftermath Exhibition: Limitless
The focus and awareness of black history tends to fall short in our community. It is important that black youth understand the paths paved for them, in order to believe in their potential despite historical setbacks.
“The Aftermath Exhibition” has made it its mission to bring people together, to not only learn but celebrate this amazing history. It’s initiative is aimed at educating youth in Canada, regardless of background, about the experiences and realities people of colour are facing within the community and around Canada.
The medium with which we have chosen to express this message is through the universal language of art. Additionally, local black artists lack concrete support. However, this event will provide a platform for such artists to showcase their talents and efforts. Additionally, it is a source of education and insight into the various talents black youth have to offer, that go beyond what is typically highlighted. The exhibition will include art such as painting, poetry/spoken-word, musical performances and more. This exhibition will be a Black History Month event and so, will take place in the month of February in our nation’s capital.
Tickets are $20 at the door.
