Are 2-spirit people welcome as they are at this pow wow?
Samizi Agokwe-nini
-- 25/04/2017 17:12
No one has responded to my question.
Don Barnaby
-- 25/04/2017 17:12
Two spirited people should be welcomed anywhere anytime. They were highly revered until religion came to our people.
Ross Saunders
-- 25/04/2017 17:12
Doug doesn't acknowledge 2-spirit dancers and has been very vocal about it

If this powwow doesn't welcome my sisters and brothers, No matter HOW THEY ARE FORMED, I will not attend. I will quite publicly not attend...

The Anishnabe have 5 genders in the teachings, not 2! Lame excuses and closing of minds are a disease of many people, not just here but in all cultures. Sadly due to brainwashing and closing doors ,,,ignorance is spreading! We need folks to remember the old ways were more open to all 5 gender forms!!! I pray that minds can heal! Forgive those that have lost the path,,, judge them not! They are lost souls on a split path filled with twisted teachings from those lost even more. With faith we can renew even these minds to see and remember truth. It may not be their comfort zone, but it is the individuals choice on which path they choose to walk. It is or may not be our choice,,but here is truth, their choice matters more than the beliefs some feel. Wrong or right, everyone walks their path and we can never walk it for them. My path is simple! I am mainly an abstainer,, number 5! Yet I get judged, pegholed and told how sick I am!!! From those that assume to know me!!! Gossip is vile and degrading, bless each of us for our path we walk as it is hard, no matter what or who or even the why! So to all of you!!!! Tomorrow I will be there in my purple ribbon shirt with pink ribbons! Purple for spirituality and pink for unconditional love. Remember folks no one has the privileged to judge,,,no one! Chi meegwetch! See you all of 5 genders!,

I woke at 555 a m, drove to a blocked off powwow area and as I got there I saw with my own eyes the protest of this day! Less than 10 dancers, less than 4 vendors,,, and worse,,,, less than a hundred people period! I made a point to walk my talk and let my opinion be known and shared! I was also informed of sad news,,,,, Doug has cancer , had and still is walking! Where many of you gave up and didn't show,,,, a sick man still did and he did not complain. How can we teach if you avoid each other??? I was going to leave around 6 pm, but thanks to many I stayed till after 9 and home After 11!
