The next British Columbia provincial election is scheduled for May 9, 2017. Gordon Neighbourhood House (GNH) will be hosting an all-candidates meeting on April 1st from 2:00-4:00pm. Come find out how your candidates stand on important issues such as: food security, education, community infrastructure, affordable housing, childcare, healthcare, and rising living expenses.

This event will be co-hosted by: The Gordon Neighbourhood House Community Advisory Board, Young Ideas, Qmunity, West End Families in Action, The West End Seniors' Network, and the GNH Seniors Advisory Committee.
(Green Party of British Columbia), Spencer Chandra Herbert (BC NDP Party), and Nigel Elliott (BC Liberal Party) have confirmed their attendance.

The event will start with introductions from the candidates and stakeholder groups that are co-hosting this event. The candidates will have a brief opportunity to introduce themselves and their platform.

After short introductions, break-out groups will then be formed that are facilitated by the stakeholder groups. The candidates will then rotate throughout the room on set intervals so that neighbours can speak directly with each candidate about their concerns.

After each group has an opportunity to speak with every candidate, the candidates will be invited to share what they observed and how they will respond to these issues.

The event will end with coffee, tea, and light snacks for neighbours and candidates to enjoy together. Participants are encouraged to post and tweet live using hashtag #WestEndYVR

GNH is wheelchair accessible, and has gender neutral, single room bathrooms. Please let us know if you have any food sensitivities in advance and we will do our best to accommodate you. We encourage everyone to reduce the use of scented products such as cologne and perfumes. This event includes a meditation & prayer room as a quiet space for anyone that needs a quiet space for meditation or prayer. We acknowledge that we are on the unceded, occupied, ancestral and traditional lands of the Swxwú7mesh (Squamish), Xmkwym (Musqueam), and Slílwta (Tsleil-Waututh) nations. It is important for us to also recognize the historical and ongoing colonial genocide against Indigenous peoples that make it possible for us to be here as settlers.
